Teams sync with Viva Insights

Hello,

I have a problem/question in regards to the sync between Viva Insights and Teams and in particular the app permission synchronization.

This is our current setup. We have Viva Insights not activated for all users per default. Every user needs to request access to it, gets a special AD attribute and then goes into another group where the feature is activated.

Therefore the “Insights by MyAnalytics” feature is set to Off for the default license group – if a user doesn’t request Viva Insights, then it is not shown per default in the office portal.

The problem is that despite that Viva Insights is deactivated, if Viva Insights is allowed/added into Teams then Viva Insights gets accessible in Teams only and everyone can use it, even though as I said – the feature is deactivated.

This is because Teams App Permission Policy doesn’t sync/respect the main settings for the app.

Is there any workaround for this or are there any plans from Microsoft to fix this soon?
Creating a security group with a custom app setup policy in the Teams Admin Center and manual maintenance doesn’t work for us, because there are many users (with and without access to Viva).
I hope I explained this understandably.

Hi @Metodi_Zoykov - Thanks for your question. We actually have a manual way to adjust this so that access to the Teams app is linked to the Insights by MyAnalytics service plan. If the service plan is disabled, users will see the following splash screen if they try to open the Teams app. Please let me know if you would like us to implement this change.
