Hi Folks,
Would like some help with two rookie questions.
(a) We are trying out a pilot group wherein we uploaded org data for a group of 20 employees including team members , team leaders/managers etc. However the number of measured employees on WPA is showing 120 people, 63 internal collaborates & 10,000+ external collaborators. Could anyone help me out with why such a huge discrepancy could take place?
(b) Could we assign a manager's role as well as the leaders role to the same person while trying out this pilot study?
Regards,
Ashley

HI @Ashley, good questions!
a) Measured employees are the employees that have been issued a license via AAD. The most likely reason there is a big difference between internal collaborators and external is probably because the domain associated with those employees does not match the domain that was present for the employees on the uploaded file and the licensed population. Here is the definition: "Internal collaborators have domains internal to your organization, while external collaborators have domains external to your organization."
b) Yes you can, but the caveat is that in order to qualify as a Manager this person must have at least 10 direct or indirect licensed reports. Please see this guide here: Manager settings for Viva Insights | Microsoft Docs and My team in Viva Insights | Microsoft Docs
To set someone up with the Leader role you must assign them the Insights Business Leader: Roles for Viva Insights | Microsoft Docs

Hi Jake,
Any particular reason why there is a difference in the measured employee's number, since the total number of employees assigned with the Insights license was 22 people, but measured employees are showing 120 ? The org data file uploaded had a total number of around 22 people & only these people were allocated with a insight's license. So I'm a little worried how I'm getting a number of 120 measured people now in Insights.
Apologies if I'm creating a nuisance of myself with too many queries. 🙂
Regards,
Ashley

Hi @Ashley, I was confused on my previous reply. Your first question looked like you said you uploaded an Org File with 22 people. Is that what happened?
The only way an employee is counted as a "measured employee" is by assigning them a license. Can you check with your Azure Active Directory Admin to see if they assigned licenses to 120 employees?

Hi @Jake_Caddes , that could be a reason since I was told that only 22 were assigned a license, & when I look at the analytics it is showing 120 measured employees. But thanks anyways Jake. You really have been very helpful. Thanks a ton....Rdgs Ashley

@Ashley let me know if there is anything else I can help you with. If your company did assign licenses to only 22 and are getting 120 measured employees there may be a bug so I can submit a ticket to investigate the issue.

@Jake, apologies for the delayed reply, upon further checking the issue apparently the admin mistakenly assigned the whole office with Insights licensees instead of the mentioned pilot group of 22 licenses. Well, created some nail biting moments for me for sure. You've been a great help Jake. Sorry for the chaos. Regards, Ashley
