Guest user as Insight Analyst, is this possible to assign this role to it?

Hi team,

Customer wants to have their partner as guest user in their tenant and assign the Insights Analyst Role, is this possible? According to Doc:
Assign Azure roles to external guest users using the Azure portal - Azure RBAC | Microsoft Docs

Here are a couple example scenarios when you might invite guest users to your organization and grant permissions:

  • Allow an external self-employed vendor that only has an email account to access your Azure resources for a project.
  • Allow an external partner to manage certain resources or an entire subscription.
  • Allow support engineers not in your organization (such as Microsoft support) to temporarily access your Azure resource to troubleshoot issues.

So, based on that, once that external user is invited as guest you should be able to assign the Analyst role right? or there is any sort of limitation, like accessing the Power BI reports maybe (different license)? I cannot find anything about this scenario on the roles documentation.

Thank you in advance.

Hi Angel,

If the customer's AAD policy allows guests, and once the user is added as a guest in the tenant, then the role can be assigned and the user will have the permissions that come with the analyst role. For PBI reports specifically, the customer needs to make sure the user can access PowerBI. From a data perspective, once the user has the analyst role, they are permissioned to see the data that flows into the PBI (and other query exports).
