Do meeting invitations count as emails sent?

Hi Viva Insights Community! Longtime fan, first time poster here. I'm a relatively new Analyst in Advanced Insights, and I am crafting a story around more efficient collaboration through use of Teams versus Email, in addition to promoting healthy meeting habits by reducing the amount of recurring meetings, reducing invitees, etc.

My question is specifically around the Emails Sent Person metric. Does a meeting invitation sent from Outlook count as an email sent? Or is it distinct in that it is now a Meeting, with its associated attributes?

Thanks in advance! Looking forward to leveraging all Advanced Insights has to offer.
