Clarification on double-booked meeting hours

Hi community!

I wanted to clarify the definition of double-booked meeting hours besides what is described in the documentation. Let's take the following example in which I had two overlapping meetings:

  • Meeting A is happening between 10h-11h
  • Meeting B is happening between 10h30-11h30

Let's assume I left Meeting A and joined Meeting B at 11h. When calculating my collaboration metrics, they would be as follows:

  • Meeting hours = 1h30
  • Collaboration hours = 1h30
  • Double-booked meeting hours = 1h30 (?)

Ultimately, my question is if double-booked meeting hours are the nº of meeting hours in which there was overlapping meetings (in this case 1h30) or, rather, are the nº of hours in meetings where there was overlapping hours (in this case 2h).

Thanks a lot! Would be amazing if I could get an answer ASAP since we kicked-off a Viva Insights project with a client last week and need to make sure there are no unanswered questions 🙂

Hi @Diogo_Sequeira!

I believe that the answer to your question is found in the description of "Conflicting meeting hours" on this link: Metric definitions for Advanced insights | Microsoft Docs

It reads:

Number of meeting hours where the person had overlapping meetings in their calendar. The count includes the entire duration of all overlapping meetings, not just the amount of time that overlaps. (This number includes all non-declined meeting times, which includes accepted, tentative, or no responses to meeting invitations.)

Hope that helps!
